Here's the update on my brother in law: It's all gone awry, unfortunately. His attorneys suddenly changed their mind and told him they didn't think he could win his case. He was given just minutes to decide whether to continue fighting and possibly get up to 15 years in Federal Prison - OR - change his plea to guilty and possibly receive a lesser sentence. Even his Marine toughness failed after two years of intimidation and fear-mongering by the Feds (not to mention the continual rule-breaking)...and the fact that he didn't want to miss his youngest daughter Katherine's entire childhood. So, he gave in and changed his plea. He is now waiting for May when he'll be sentenced and in the meantime, trying to find some source of income, since Southwest Airlines let him go as soon as his plea changed. They are trying to sell the house they built and, if/once they do, will move in with my parents. They are financially spent due to the attorney fees and are both looking for employment, so if anyone who reads this knows of anything, please contact me. They have no income, a mortgage to pay and two daughters to feed.
It's unbelievable that this can happen to someone who has served his country for years, has a clean record and is honest as they come.
Thanks for checking back and keep any prayers and thoughts going to them...anything and everything is appreciated.

I have not checked out your blog for a while. This is a horrible story. Stunning, really. "Justice" in our country can be such a perverted thing. And who can blame him... when the government is up against you. Sad... hope there is a happy ending to this one, but I suspect that will take a while.
